Rjkari

Cultivated originally in an Irwinian attempt to create a self-farming food, Rjkari(Rʒ-kɑ-ri = Ridg-car-ri) are a species of ambulant fungus with dense, fibrous bodies. Born from large lattices called mycelium, Rjkari are gifted various levels of intellectual and physical capacity on their creation, and many seek to exemplify the talent they were grown with. When a Rjkari dies with sufficient leftover nutrients, it can dissolve into and form a new mycelium net, from which to grow new descendents.

Originally named 'planog' which means 'blue footed', the name Rjkari is the Riij-Mazin word for "From the root".

Physical Description: Rjkari vary wildly, ranging from 90cm to 250cm in height, though they are usually sturdily built. They often have a large number of stalks breaking away from their central shape which can be used as hands or more akin to tails. All Rjkari have at least 2 legs, though some individuals have been encountered with far more.

Rjkari are considered "In their prime" from the moment they separate from the Mycelium, and have been known to live almost 500 years.

Society: Rjkari society is hierarchical and caste based, with those closer to the original mycelium holding higher social positions, and the various nets creating new individuals specifically designed to fulfill certain niches. Where these groups can be found in other cultures, they normally form businesses or industries built around a particular niche the original mycelium excelled at. Rjkari appear to hold no cultural ill will toward Irwinians, but do not grant them any undue respect.

Names: Rjkari usually make up names when they encounter other civil species, giving themselves names they feel is easy enough for their new companions to say. They will typically spread these names around other Rjkari groups the moment they encounter them, to solidify that it refers to that specific individual.

• Veinminer[When you mine ore, its purity is 50% better.]{PICKS}

Tier 2

• Camoflange[You may attempt Stealth without any form of cover provided you are in an area with any amount of natural fungus.]{STEALTH}
• Divine lineage[When you succeed at a Willpower defence against effects that would affect your mind, you gain 1 momentum.]{FAITH}
• Exchange of Information[You may 'hold' a number of education checks you failed equal to your education tier. When you come in physical contact with another willing Rjkari with this ability, you may reroll the 'held' checks. A single check can only benefit from a given Rjkari's contact once.]{EDUCATION}
• Made of Blades[You may create a shortsword from your own flesh. The weapon lasts for 1 scene and you take damage equal to the trade DC of the item created. You cannot create weapons with special materials in this manner.]{SHORTSWORDS}
• Rusted Ally[Use your Species modifier in place of any other skill when dealing with Rusties.]{GORUN}
• Spore Field[Select one sense, you lack that sense and are immune to effects that target it. You instead produce a spore cloud that functions in a similar manner out to a number of hexes equal to your Rjkari tier. You may still select powers associated witha that sense, though they only function inside your spore field.]{SENSES}
• Stalkdrop[When you take no damage from an effect and are able to move as part of your success, you may choose to take 1 damage. If you do so, the hex you leave costs 1 additional hex to move into.]{DODGE}

Tier 3

• Consume wood[You may consume part of your polearm's shaft in order to heal yourself. For every 2 damage you remove from yourself in this way, the weapon's tool die maximum decreases by 1. If the weapon's tool die is reaches 1, it is instead destroyed.]{POLEARMS}
• Crystal System[You can roll species to prevent gem spirits getting jealous]{UOLUNE}
• Mycelium Dermis[Your skin counts as basic magic aid to defense]{INTHERIANISM}
• Shell[You have a hardened section you can position like a shield. This always counts as a d4 tool for the Shield skill]{SHIELDS}
• Spore communication[You can send messages to fellow Rjkari within 10 hexes without chance of being intercepted.]{LEADERSHIP}
• Sporeart[You can create rjkari spore art using artistry.]{ARTISTRY}
• Surprise prickles[You can store daggers inside your body. You can use Species to hide daggers on your person and they count as species tools when you do so.]{DAGGERS}
