Rolled For
Stamina checks are made when you perform a single task covered by another skill for an elongated period of time, such as long periods of climbing, or extended attempts to disarm particularly complicated devices. Stamina can also be used to see how well you perform a task that doesn't require much expertise but takes a large amount of time such as plowing, weaving, cooking, gardening, or hiking.
Stamina rolls may be made to avoid starvation, though the DC increases for each day without food. Some groups and cultures do this intentionally, as a social act called 'fasting' which may be for various cultural, political, or religious reasons.
When you could contract a disease, you use your Stamina defence to resist it.
Special Rules
You also use your Stamina skill to determine how long you can hold your breath.
You can also run for at most 3 round plus your stamina tier.
You can travel for a maximum of 5 hours each day without requiring a Stamina check.
At high altitude, the frequency of stamina checks doubles.
Anyone can use Stamina to repair a damaged object. If you don't have an ability that makes it easier or allows you to use a different skill, the eDC of this check is three times the trade DC of the item.
Difficulty Modifiers
DC begins at 0, each of the following adds +5.
- Active Danger: Something is actively opposing your check in a threatening manner and can react to your actions.
- Cold: The task involves a particularly cold environment or weather.
- Combination: The task is done in combination with another skill. Add again for each 10 the other DC is above 15.
- Crafting: The task involves some form of crafting, such as cooking or weaving.
- Dangerous: The activity has some inherent mindless threat such as a cliffside.
- Darkness: The task is done in the dark, making it difficult to react to the environment or requiring significant focus on needing to see.
- Day: The task takes at least a day's worth of effort. This applies an additional time for every additional day.
- Hot: The task involves a particularly hot environment or weather such as being in a desert or working a forge.
- Intense: The task involves more than casual effort over a long period.
- Running: The activity involves or consists primarily of running or jogging.
- Time Limit: If something would make the task actively harder or impossible after a certain period of time.
- Weather: The weather makes the task more difficult, such as strong wind or light rain. This applies twice for particularly intense weather such as storms.
- Weight: The activity involves carrying more weight than normal. This may apply multiple times for particularly significant weight. If this applies more than twice, it's more likely a combination with Athletics.
- Wilderness: The activity takes place in an unfamiliar and wild environment. Particularly out of the way locations such as dark caves or ancient forests, apply this multiple times.
