Navigation
Special Rules
You can use Navigation to reverse course when you are lost back to a point when you were not. The DC is dependent on how long you travelled. You cannot do this if you were prevented from paying attention to your surroundings during at least 10% of the duration of your travel or if you were magically transported or teleported.
Planar portals connect the world to each of its elemental components; the sky is the most obvious portal and connects up to the plane of air, the deepest depths of the ocean connect to the plane of water, and various other portals connect to more specific and varied locales. There are very few and often no signs of these connections.
Difficulty Modifiers
DC begins at 0, each of the following adds +5.
- Charting: The activity involves planning a route in advance, without being on the path itself.
- Group: The activity involves directing a large group of at least 8 walking people or 2 vehicles. Add twice if the group is at least 50 walking people or 10 vehicles.
- Hazardous: Natural hazards exist in the terrain being traversed.
- Mountainous: The activity involves crossing a mountain.
- Moving Terrain: The activity involves an area where the terrain moves such as the Kirrik braids, or shifting desert dunes.
- Multiday: The activity will take more than 1 day. This applies an additional time for each week of additional time the check will take.
- Road-less: The route or path does not have a designated road. This applies an additional time if the check also includes the Charting or Group complications.
- Save Time: The activity's focus is to save time over a predetermined route.
- Tracking: The activity regards following tracks. This applies for each day after the tracks were made.
- Unmapped: There is no map of the area the activity takes place in.
- Weather: Weather interferes with the activity. Dense or deadly weather applies this twice, and fog applies four times.
